Another lake weekend

We went to the lake again this past weekend. As always the kids had a great time but we had some minor drama on Friday afternoon. Cole tripped over his own feet and fell on the window sill all while holding his bottom lip between his teeth. Of course that made for a bloody mess and a freaked out mom. Nathan and our friend Deanna handled it all well while I stood to the side and freaked out. I'm normally OK with his bumps and bruises but this one was bad. He took a huge chunk out of his lip. To make it worse we couldn't tell if it was a paint chip or piece of wood that was in his lip. Nathan held him down while Deanna dug around to find out what it was. We ended up taking him to the East Texas Medical Center where the nurse all but called me a weenie for bringing him in. Basically there was nothing that could be done for it. The nurse said it will start healing right away and in a week it would be just a scab. I felt better having taken him although they didn't do anything. If I wouldn't have taken him I would have felt guilty for ignoring it.

(This was taken the next morning when it looked a ton better. You can't see it but the inside was cut up too.)

After that we went back to the house and Mrs. B (Deidra's mom) was having a moment. She either popped a stitch (she had surgery not long ago) or she pulled a muscle. Either way she couldn't move. In the long run she ended up being OK but it was a scary afternoon at the lake. Brian then insisted we all move slowly and wear helmets and protective bubble wrap just to make sure there were no more accidents.

The next morning we were graced with the presence of an alligator. We've always heard of him but this time he was literally in the water in front of us. So close that Nathan was able to snap a few pictures of him. Needless to say my kids will not be entering that water anytime soon. Deidra and I actually saw another alligator while riding the jet ski in alligator alley. The moment she said "we're in alligator alley" I looked up and understood why. There was a gator swimming just in front of us. SCARY!!!

All in all it was a fun weekend. Cole's lip is looking better. We really didn't get a great picture of it but maybe you'll be able to see what I mean by "he took a chunk out of it." Happy Memorial Day weekend everyone. Thank you to all the soldiers past, present and future.
This kid loves driving the boat. He didn't even want Aunt Deidra to touch the wheel.
The kids had a blast playing in the spa. Brian & I completely emptied the water (we baled it all out!) on Sunday so we could have a fresh spa for the start of a new summer season. Anna was so happy William was there to play with her this time.
