Anna got comfy and made herself at home, using every inch of her seat. Thankfully the man next to her had a 6 year old girl so he was completely used to the Miss Priss residing in the seat next to him.
Cole was giddy with excitement. He could not wait to be airborne.
Our time on the plane was filled with movies on the DVD player and iPad. They also enjoyed some old school entertainment on the mini etch a sketches I brought along as a surprise.
Once we landed it was time to suit up like eskimos. Seriously we had no idea it was close to 50 out. The pilot told us 36 degrees.
The always fancy Anna wore her bow on the outside of her hat.
Once we arrived in the city from the airport we came out of the train station to see this! Cole had already been on a plane and train and now to have his picture taken in front of an NYFD truck was just icing on his cake.
Once we checked in we headed out to explore the city. First stop Dylan's Candy Bar. Anna was in HEAVEN! She wanted one of everything. Of course we had to limit her. There was no way we were lugging all that candy around.
After the candy bar we made our way to Time Square where we promptly bought a pretzel, chicken stick and sausage with peppers (minus the peppers because he ran out!).
After enjoying our street corner snack it was time to pose!
And pose she did!
Alot! But she was so stinkin' cute in her outfit that I couldn't help but encourage her to keep going.
While Anna was posing Cole has his eye on this. Serisouly this guy is in love with all things related to emergency vehicles. Jumping ahead as we were going into the train station to leave on Monday he got to see firefighters going into the building across from us. He thought that was so cool.
Once our posing was complete we headed to Toys R Us in Time Square. Of course we had to ride the ferris wheel inside.
The ferris wheel was BORING! It went around twice then stopped to let two cars unload and load again. Then it went around two more times and stopped and again two more times. We were begging to get off!
Once we escaped the ferris wheel we went over to see the "real" dinosaur. Cole couldn't understand that it wasn't actually real.
Once we tired of Toys R Us we made our way to the M & M store. This picture is of Anna eating her giant lollipop from Dylan's Candy Bar while picking out the M & Ms she "needed" to get.
$34 and 2.5 lbs of M & Ms later we walked up to Central Park.
We played in the leaves...
And finally the moment she had been waiting for...ICE SKATING!! It was worth every one of the 80 dollars we paid for the four of us to skate to see her having so much fun.
He went around a few times but decided he enjoyed the view from the side better.
After ice skating, we took a carriage ride through Central Park.
Cole enjoyed it the most! Poor guy was worn out from waking up so early.
From Central Park we walked up Lexington Ave to see all the Christmas lights and to make our way to Rockefeller Christmas Tree. While quite impressive, I must admit I've always thought it was bigger. Thankfully Cole woke up just in time to see it.
For dinner our hotel recommended a "casual dining" restaurant around the corner, considering we had kids and all. We get there and the hostess looks at me like I'm crazy, then asks if the kids are with me. I looked around and realize there are white table cloths and stemware on every table. I politely told the hostess we were staying and turned on a dime and hauled butt! On our way back we stopped at Cafe Metro. This is a chain deli in the city and it was perfect for us. Cole got his first slice of NY pizza and we all had NY cheesecake.
From there we walked to Grand Central so Cole could see the trains once again. This allowed for Anna and I to have more posing time.
Next up NYC to Connecticut!
