The Bachelor: My Thoughts

First let me start by saying I only watch The Bachelor when Brad Womack is on it so I don't have anything to compare to. Let me also say I can't believe I'm writing a post about this show. I think the whole premise of the show is really dumb (my opinion and definitely not shared by millions of viewers which includes many of my friends). I mean seriously the chances of you finding "THE ONE" on a TV show is pretty slim.

When Brad Womack was last on The Bachelor he decided not to choose any of the women and he got a ton of negative publicity over it. When that happened I was so disappointed in all the people who called him names or said he was stupid. In truth he wasn't stupid at all. Of course the producers wanted him to pick someone to keep the "integrity" of the show intact but this is someones life. Why would he want to pick someone if he didn't think it was going to end up in marriage? Why waste time?

I have to say that I was shocked when Brad decided to do the show. He's extremely good looking and he's the nicest guy (nice twin as opposed to his brother Chad who always struck me as cocky). When he signed on to do this season of The Bachelor I was seriously starting to question his sanity. Why on earth would you put yourself through that again? Oh well as Nathan has told me it was his decision to put himself out there again and he had to know people were going to bash him all over again.

Sometime around the spring of 2002 Nathan and I went into The Chuggin' Monkey in Austin early by 6th Street standards. We were the only people in the bar (took us about half the amount of time to get seated and eat at a restaurant across the street). Anyway we sat down at the bar and began talking to Brad Womack. He never led on that he owned the bar. He was so incredibly nice and attentive (even when others finally showed up). He is the one who actually got me drinking flavored vodka. From that point on, Nathan and I would frequent The Chuggin' Monkey and The Dizzy Rooster (another bar owned by him and his brothers). I remember when Nathan and I got engaged he said "let me throw you an engagement party at the bar, I'll throw in the keg and close off the top floor just for you guys." We never took him up on it because we really didn't have a ton of friends in Austin at the time. But seriously the guy was so nice. We continued to keep in touch with him on a regular basis until we moved to Houston. Even then we still went in and saw him when we were back in town. We haven't seen him in several years.

I do want him to find someone to love and marry. I'm still skeptical that he will find his true love on a TV show. I still wish him the best and I will continue to cheer him on throughout this season. I'll also cheer him on if he comes back again!

Don't laugh, we all look so young. This was taken in the summer of 2003.

WOW, that is really cool! I love the Bachelor and I have no problem admitting that. BUT I do also admit that it is a cheesy show and I also doubt that you can find love that way. But for some silly reason, they have me hooked! That does not even look like him! HAHA!
